Operation Green Leaves – www.oglhaiti.com – has an environmental art exhibit at the Mid-Century Art and Antique Gallery. Mid-Century Gallery is at 3404 North Miami Avenue in the Wynwood Arts District.

If you’re in the Midtown area, stop in and check out the functional furniture art by Paulette Lust, Bobby Franano, Eugene Charrin and Donny Garcia. There’s even a table painted by the members of the Junior Green Leaves club at Hubert O. Sibley middle school in North Miami.

The 26 November 2008 edition of Liquid Lounge on BlogTalkRadio will originate from Mamuska Arts Cafe at 1 PM EST. The show is being done as a remote in preparation for Art Week in Miami, the first week in December.

The main event is Art Basel Miami Beach, but there are now more than a dozen satellite fairs, including Art Miami 2008. Art Miami 2008 will showcase 100 galleries under the big top, so to speak. The Art Miami 2008 pavillion is 100,000 square feet of airconditioned and carpeted exhibition space.

For more on Art Miami and the other shows in the Midtown Miami/Wynwood Arts District check out MiamiArtOnline.

MiamiArtOnline, the Blogtalkradio program with a focus on art and entertainment in Miami and Miami Beach will produce a series of shows from Mamushka Arts Cafe in the Midtown Miami section of the Wynwood Arts District.

The first show, which I think of as a ‘test,’ was done by cell phone. Mamushka and I walked from her Arts Cafe to talk with Issac Javier Perelman, the director of DotFiftyOne Gallery.

With the arrival of the annual arts week in Miami, where dozens of art fairs and special events playout against the backdrop of Art Basel Miami Beach, the second largest art fair in the world.

While the official opening of Art Basel is December 4, Art Miami 2008 and Red Dot Art Fair plan to open for VIPs and the media. MiamiArtOnline.com will be visiting many of the venues, probably by pedicab, since a fleet of this ‘rickshaw-esque’ vehicles will be deployed to shuttle visitors between the Miami Design District and the Wynwood Arts District, including the magnificent seven in the Midtown Arts District: Red Dot, Bridge, Art Miami, Green Art Fair, Scope, ArtAsia and Photo Miami.

For more information, visit MiamiArtOnline and register to be on the VIP list.

One of the unique aspects of art is the ablity to transform one thing into another. Operation Green Leaves – www.oglhaiti.com – has an environmental art project that is transforming wooden furniture into art to call attention to the need to reforest Haiti.

This is an interview with one of the artists – Paulette Lust – from NYC. She was in Miami for a few days and gave her time and talent to help raise some money to plant trees in Haiti.

From December 4 to 7, 2008, the largest art fair in North America, and the second largest art event in the world, will take place in Miami Beach. Known as Art Basel Miami Beach, the event will bring thousands of people who appreciate art, and, maybe, a few who just like a good party, to Miami Beach and the surrounding area.

Although the epicenter of Art Basel Miami Beach is the Miami Beach Convention Center, dozens of satellite events create the buzz for most people. We’ll take a look at some of the events in coming weeks, and cover as many a possible once the wave comes ashore.

This is a video from Day 2 of Art Basel Miami Beach 2007.
